Chattanooga, TN (February 2, 2022) – Parkridge East Hospital is pleased to announce its designation as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission.

The certificate of distinction is awarded to hospitals that provide personalized, evidence-based care to meet the needs of each stroke patient. Hospitals also must have dedicated resources and processes focused on caring for stroke patients.

“This designation tells our patients and the community that our program is committed to caring for stroke patients with the latest clinical standards and guidelines,” John Marshall, M.D., stroke medical director at Parkridge Health System said.

Research indicates that stroke patients who receive care at a primary stroke center have better survival and recovery rates than patients treated in hospitals without specialized stroke care.

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization, and the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
