Your cancer care team
Dedicated professionals from across the spectrum of oncology care work with patients and their families.
Specialized patient navigation
Your nurse navigator is a specially trained healthcare professional dedicated to supporting cancer patients. They work closely with you, your caregivers and your healthcare team to ensure seamless communication, coordinate care and help eliminate any barriers to treatment. Their primary goal is to advocate for your needs and enhance your access to care throughout your journey.
Our nurse navigators:
- Reinforce education on cancer types, treatment options and clinical trials
- Facilitate coordination of office visits, as needed, across various medical specialties to ensure a more efficient and streamlined cancer care experience
- Serve as your advocate in multidisciplinary team meetings to foster collaboration in your cancer treatment
- Be your continuous source of support, always available to answer any questions you may have
Cancer resources
No one should face cancer alone. Our oncology experts and navigators will help you with resources, support and care, following your cancer diagnosis.
Cancer registry program
The cancer registry program collects data on cancer care, including diagnoses, surgeries and uses of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. In addition, the registry follows you throughout your lifetime to log treatment outcomes and ensure that you continue to be evaluated by appropriate medical personnel on a regular basis. Data is then sent to a national database that is used to determine future standards of care and prevention for all types of cancer.
The registry participates in the Commission on Cancer Rapid Quality Reporting System (RQRS) by regularly submitting cases to their national database. This database provides facilities more current cancer treatment data, and sends alerts to inform the cancer registry when you are due to start your treatments. This process ensures that our facilities provide high quality care for everyone.
Clinical trials
We have a number of ongoing clinical research trials. Please feel free to contact your physician for further information about clinical trials that may be available for your condition. For more information about clinical trials, visit the following resources:
Patient resource room
If you have been diagnosed with cancer, it can be an understandably unsettling time. Many aspects will feel unfamiliar, but when you equip yourself with pertinent information regarding your condition, you'll feel better about what you're facing.
Our resource room is a quiet place for study and reflection. It is available for you and your family members to get printed resources and use our computers for online research. Educational resources in this room are geared towards:
- Chemotherapy information and how to manage effects
- Community resources
- Dietary advice
- Disease specific information
- Emotional support
- Nutrition information
- Pain management
- Radiation information
Above all, we want to provide you with educational support throughout your cancer journey. Any managing physician or their staff may set up appointments for the patient resource room. If you have already been diagnosed with cancer and would like a second opinion, you may call for an appointment.
To schedule your appointment, call (423) 493-1690.
