CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Woodmore Elementary teachers and staff practiced responding to emergency situations during a special training session held earlier this month at Parkridge East Hospital. The group learned about signs and symptoms of heart attack and stroke, the use of the 911 call system, how to assist a choking victim, and the use of CPR and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) on adults, children and infants. After the lecture, teachers and staff practiced emergency resuscitation techniques on mannequins.
The training is part of a series being conducted for area schools by Parkridge Health System emergency nurse Tammie Crowder as a service to the community.
