You waited nine (OK, 10) months for your bundle of joy to arrive! Now that he or she is here, you should be back into your normal routine and ready to go, right? Wrong!

Not only is your body going through changes after giving birth, so is your mind. Beyond those changes, your daily routine is not what it used to be because you have now added a new member to the family.

That's why our team at Parkridge East wants to suggest some ideas to regain your energy levels while getting used to your new normal after baby. And the best thing—no caffeine is required!

Have a positive mindset

First, you need to set your mind to positive. Things happen when you have children, and you will not always get that nap you so desperately need. However, staying in the same outfit three days in a row will not help either.

Therefore, during the day, take time to change your outfit. Open up the windows and play an uplifting song to get your day started in the right direction!

Turn off that smartphone

Second, get rid of that blue light. It is easy to become addicted to your smartphone, especially as a new mom.

Whether you're watching a TV show while feeding your baby, trying to catch up with friends in a group chat or researching why your baby has the hiccups, you probably find yourself using that device all the time.

However, as you wind down toward night, that blue light can interfere with your body's natural ability to determine what time of day it is.

Mamas, you need your sleep. So give yourself a break from your smartphone a few times a day so that you can sleep better and feel more energized throughout the day! And a little time spent away from the phone could benefit everyone.

Stay hydrated

Finally, you need to make sure you are drinking water throughout the day. When breastfeeding, women typically need more water than usual to ensure they stay hydrated enough to produce enough breast milk.

If you cannot stomach another glass of water, try to get it from the foods you eat, such as:

  • Fruits
  • Soups
  • Stews
  • Vegetables
  • Yogurt
