Parkridge Health System - April 24, 2019

Whether you've known your baby was facing health challenges or you've experienced a premature delivery, having a baby that requires neonatal intensive care can be a stressful situation.

However, even in the most heart-wrenching of situations, you can rest assured that the NICU at Parkridge East is available to care for your baby 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing the specialized attention your little one needs.

The Importance of a NICU

Neonatal intensive care is needed in a variety of circumstances, treating tiny patients with a number of health conditions ranging in severity.

Fortunately, not only is there a NICU available at Parkridge East, but it is a Level III NICU , meaning it's certified to care for babies born at less than 32 weeks gestation as well as babies born with critical medical issues at any gestational age.

What Can You Expect at the NICU

The Level III NICU at The Birth Place provides around-the-clock care to those babies who need it the most. The NICU is staffed with a variety of knowledgeable and experienced team members, including board-certified neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners and registered nurses. You can expect your baby to be provided with the most compassionate and specialized care possible.

You Are Still a Vital Part of the Birth Plan

Just because your baby is taken into the NICU doesn't mean the care you would have provided before isn't needed. Especially as your baby's health improves, our team encourages you to breastfeed your baby if you wish, and we even have a private room available for you to breastfeed, pump and store your milk.

In addition, we need—and want—you there to spend time and help care for your baby, which is why our staff makes sure to provide a family-centered environment.

Parkridge Preemies

Parkridge is proud to be a part of the March of Dimes mission to help improve the health of both moms and babies!

We are once again partnering with other local organizations for the March for Babies Walk, which is happening in Chattanooga on April 27. Our Parkridge Preemies team is working hard to build a better future for all of us—and we won't stop until we do!
