Parkridge Health System is proud to welcome Bao-Thuy Hoang, MD, a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with 15 years of experience specializing in complex surgery of the heart, lungs, and other parts of the chest. He recently joined the Centennial Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Parkridge practice.
“Dr. Hoang brings more than a decade of experience in complex cardiac cases that makes our program one of the most robust in the region,” said Alison Bailey, MD, FACC, Chief of Cardiology at Centennial Heart at Parkridge. “His skillset and clinical expertise will be an asset to our practice and the patients we serve.”
Dr. Bao-Thuy Hoang is a double board certified cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon. He received his medical degree and surgical residency from University of Florida, where he earned multiple awards including Intern of the Year, Excellence in Trauma, the U award, and the Outstanding Resident Educator award from the Society of Teaching Scholars. He then completed his cardiovascular and thoracic surgery residency at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is a member of numerous surgical societies including the Society of Thoracic Surgeon and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Bao specializes in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery with special interests in minimal-incision surgery for both lung and heart disease. He has pioneered minimally invasive mitral/tricuspid valve surgery, convergence hybrid a-fib ablation, ECMO, and robotic lung surgery program.
Dr. Hoang has been a key part of multiple STS-rated three star (highest possible) cardiac surgery programs. He strives to bring cutting edge surgical techniques in a safe manner to all his patients. He believes that although not all heart and lung disease is the same, every patient should get the same best care possible.
Dr. Hoang is currently the chief of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Centennial Heart and Vascular Center at Parkridge. In addition to English, he speaks Vietnamese. In his free time, Dr. Bao enjoys spending time with his family and their Golden Retriever, hiking, riding the tractor, gardening, and homesteading.
