March 6, 2009 — Outpatient Services of Parkridge Valley at Cleveland is now providing a new Partial Hospitalization Program under the medical directorship of J. Glynn Newman, Jr. M.D. Dr. Newman has practiced in the Cleveland area for the last 3 1/2 years. Parkridge Valley's Cleveland location will be the only Partial Hospitalization Program in the Bradley County area. Partial Hospitalization is less structured than inpatient psychiatric care, and is designed to address psychiatric illnesses as well as alcohol and drug addiction through medication and psychotherapy for five days a week. The Cleveland Outpatient Services program also offers a step down an intensive outpatient program which is primarily focused on addiction services at both day and evening sessions. Parkridge Valley is a behavioral health facility of Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga.

Parkridge Valley opened the Cleveland site in 2000 to provide intensive outpatient services to Cleveland and surrounding areas. "We are excited to be expanding our services at our Outpatient Services site in Cleveland," said Matt Callihan, director of addictive disorders programs for Parkridge Valley and who oversees the programs in Cleveland. "Adding another physician to our services and offering another level of care in Cleveland was needed to serve our community. We offer a confidential program that can help those suffering from a behavioral or addictive illness with treatment solutions to get them on the road to recovery and a successful life. Because Parkridge Valley offers the most comprehensive program for behavioral health and addictive disorders serving children, adolescents and adults, we are able to provide the full continuum of care for anyone needing psychological services. Patients in Cleveland benefit from being able to have these phases of treatment close to home and, should they need more intense intervention, it is readily available at Parkridge Valley in Chattanooga."

Parkridge Valley's Cleveland location offers an intensive outpatient program to help adults and adolescents from 12 to 17 years of age achieve long-term abstinence and recovery from addiction issues and/or treatment and therapy for their behavioral issues. Because patients are able to attend treatment and therapy during the day, they are able to maintain their normal lifestyles by going home in the evening. Other services offered include initial assessments to determine appropriate levels of care, urine drug screening, and discharge planning. Parkridge Valley works closely with referral sources and other treatment providers to ensure continuity of care. Crisis intervention and individual and family counseling are provided as needed. The staff consists of licensed counselors, social workers and other qualified behavioral health professionals. For more information about the Cleveland programs, call 472-1999.
