Tony Neuhoff, outpatient program coordinator at Parkridge Valley Hospital, was recently honored with the Bob Burr Lifetime Achievement Award by the Southeast Tennessee Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (SETAADAC). The award was established by SETAADAC in the mid 1980s to honor individuals who have been in the field of addiction and addiction recovery for more than 25 years. Mr. Neuhoff was chosen for this award by his peers for education, professionalism, integrity, and dedication to his field.

Neuhoff has been in the field of addiction counseling for the past 28 years and an employee of Parkridge Valley since 1993. "The best part of my work is being able to see miracles happen on a daily basis, assisting patients who are then able to get their life back on track," notes Neuhoff. "I enjoy all aspects of my job, including educating patients and family members regarding addiction and recovery resources, and teaching communication and trust building skills in family systems."

"There is satisfaction in having previous clients refer family and others because of the help they received," remarks Neuhoff. "I also enjoy working with other area professionals — we really work together as a family."

The award is named in honor of Bob Burr, a pioneer in the field of addiction and addiction recovery who was known for his commitment to excellence in treating patients. Burr’s innovative methods included the incorporation of the family model of addiction recovery into treatment.
