– Three local charities each received a $500 donation on the behalf of three doctors recognized as the Parkridge hospitals’ Frist Humanitarian Award physician winners for 2010. Dr. Hal Hill from Parkridge Medical Center, Dr. Michael Seeber at Parkridge East Hospital, and Dr. Susan McGuire from Parkridge Valley Hospital were chosen for this annual honor for going above and beyond their day-to-day roles in serving the community and those in need.

Dr. Hill’s chosen charity was Channels of Love Ministry, a non-profit, interdenominational, Christian organization that serves people affected by the HIV/AIDS virus. Dr. Seeber’s chosen charity was Project Access, a community health partnership coordinated by the Medical Society of Chattanooga & Hamilton County and the Medical Foundation with the goal of increasing the availability of health care to low-income, uninsured residents of Hamilton County. Dr. Susan McGuire’s charity of choice was the Chambliss Shelter, a local organization that works to preserve family unity and help prevent the dependency, neglect, abuse and delinquency of children by responding to the community's childcare needs.

The Frist Humanitarian Awards were created to recognize one employee, one physician and one volunteer at each HCA-affiliated facility who demonstrates extraordinary concern for the welfare and happiness of patients and their community. The Frist Humanitarian Awards are given annually in recognition of the humanitarian spirit and philanthropic work of the late Dr. Thomas F. Frist, Sr., a founder of HCA.
