On December 17, 2015, Chris and Bridget Young of Rossville, GA, welcomed their son, Daniel, into the world at Parkridge East Hospital. Even though this is Young’s first child, this was not her first time in The Birth Place. In 1984, Young was one of the first babies born in the newly renovated labor and delivery unit. To make this day even more special for the family, Young and her mother, Angela Bayne, were featured in a newspaper article commemorating the renovation.

Young says her choice to deliver at Parkridge East Hospital was easy because of the excellent reputation of the hospital and the added security of the on-site NICU. “There is a special connection with this hospital because I was born here and other family members were also born here.”

Bayne was in the delivery room with her daughter when Daniel was born and she said she can’t help but reflect on her own experience here when she delivered Bridget on January 31, 1984. The most notable change Bayne recognized was the conversion from traditional operating room style birthing rooms to private birthing suites. “It is fabulous you can be in the delivery room,” said Bayne. “It has definitely changed for the better since I delivered here.”

The joy and pride expressed by Young and Bayne about both having given birth at the same hospital was evident. Young and Bayne shared special scrapbook photos with us of the original photos that appeared in the newspaper article. “Our family jokes about how we think they picked the prettiest baby in the nursery to feature,” said Bayne.

“We are honored this family chose Parkridge East Hospital,” said CEO Jarrett Millsaps. “We have been delivering babies for over 40 years now, but it’s moments like these that really allow our patients and staff to develop a personal connection. We are so happy for the Young family and wish them and all of our patients a wonderful holiday season.”
