Stroke Care

Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and the leading cause of adult disability in the United States. However, timely access to specialized treatment can potentially save your life and prevent permanent disability. Parkridge Medical Center earned Disease-Specific Care Certification as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center from The Joint Commission. That means we rapidly assess and diagnose patients exhibiting signs of stroke. For those diagnosed with stroke we administer clot-busting medications to those patients who meet the criteria.

A Stroke is an Emergency

Recognizing the signs of stroke is a critical part of treatment. Call 911 if you or someone you know experiences any of the following stroke symptoms:

Sudden loss of balance

Loss of vision in one or both eyes

Facial droop, uneven smile

Arm numbness or weakness

Slurred speech, difficulty speaking or understanding

If you see or experience any of these, call 911.
