Jasper, Tenn. – Parkridge West Hospital is pleased to welcome Thomas H. Scoggins, M.D., PHARM.D, as Emergency Services Medical Director.

A graduate of the University of California San Francisco as a Doctor of Pharmacy, and of Loma Linda University as a Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Scoggins has 12 years of experience as an emergency medicine physician. He says he is enthusiastic and passionate about emergency medicine.

“You sometimes see a patient at his or her most difficult, stressful time,” Dr. Scoggins said. “But I do enjoy meeting and getting to know new people every day. I feel like I’m making a real difference in their lives when I talk to patients about the treatments they need.”

Dr. Scoggins was a resident of Maryville, Tenn., for 10 years before moving to Florida in 2012, and said he is glad to be back in east Tennessee and serving at Parkridge West Hospital.

“I came back to Tennessee because it feels like home,” he said. “I have family in the area and my parents grew up in the South, so we’re excited to be here. Plus, I really missed the mountains.” He enjoys travelling, being outdoors, meeting new people, and spending time with his wife, Jennifer, and two daughters.

As the Emergency Services Medical Director, Dr. Scoggins is a full time emergency medicine physician as well as helping the Parkridge West Hospital Emergency Department engage with the local community.

“Having a positive relationship with patients and the community while providing excellent medical care is paramount for me,” Dr. Scoggins said. “The only mission of the staff and medical providers of Parkridge West Emergency Department is to provide the best medical care possible.”
